The production committee did not want to
prolong Mona Kawai's love frustration any longer and has just released direct
confirmation to us. Through a short promotional video, the animated adaptation
of Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms (Kuroiwa
Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsujinai) formally announced that its second
season will land on Japanese television during the month of January
2027. This marks a pretty snappy return considering that the first installment
aired in early 2025, ensuring that fans don't lose track of this peculiar
rejection dynamic.
To continue this pitched battle for male
attention, the halls of Synergy SP reopen their doors.
Director Yoshiaki Okumura retains full control of the project,
but the writers' room underwent a major modification: Yoriko Tomita will take
the reins of the scripts, replacing Kazuyuki Fudeyasu's previous work. On the
visual and sound side, the formula remains stable with Mayumi Watanabe back
in character design and Akiyuki Tateyama composing the soundtrack that will
accompany the frustrations of the protagonist.
A romance forged in Kodansha's magazines
All this tug-of-war of hormones and extreme
stoicism was born from the creativity of mangaka Ran Kuze. The
story first debuted as a one-shot in December 2020 within the
ferocious Weekly Shonen Magazine, but its premise worked so well
that publisher Kodansha made it a regular publication in May
2021. Since then, the manga has managed to accumulate 24 compilation volumes
until May 2026, trapping readers with that unusual tension between a girl who
obsessively needs to be the center of attention and a student raised in a
temple who made an unwavering vow to stay away from women.
