tissues ready because it's time to say goodbye to one of the most beloved
couples in modern romance. The manga The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no
Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) has reached its official conclusion after more than
eight years of uninterrupted publication, leaving the community with a huge
void in its chest but with the satisfaction of having witnessed impeccable
character development.
The final
chapter was published through the Champion Cross website of the Akita Shoten
publishing house, ending an adventure that began in March 2018 within the
Weekly Shonen Champion magazine. Throughout this time, the story exceeded seven
million copies in circulation, demonstrating the enormous affection that the
public took for the evolution of its protagonists. The 14th and final volume
will go on sale on November 6, including a special edition that is accompanied
by a 200-page art book focused on Kyotaro Ichikawa's high school graduation
album.
After
delivering the last chapter, author Norio Sakurai shared an emotional
handwritten letter where she expressed deep relief at having concluded the work
in a healthy and successful way. In his words, the story was blessed with
wonderful connections and he felt that the work itself grew in tandem with
Kyotaro, who went from being a lonely boy with no hope to someone surrounded by
affection and valuable relationships. In addition, the franchise extended its
universe with a novel of four short stories that explores the lives of Kyotaro
and Anna ten years in the future.

The Dangers in My Heart
Written and
illustrated by Norio Sakurai, The Dangers in My Heart follows the
life of Kyotaro Ichikawa, an introverted high school student with dark
fantasies who spends his days watching Anna Yamada, the most popular and
charismatic girl in her class, from afar. What begins as an abysmal distance
between two opposing personalities slowly turns into a sweet and genuine
romance as they both discover their vulnerabilities.
The story
made the leap to the small screen with a 12-episode first season aired in the
spring of 2023, followed by a 13-episode second season in the winter of 2024.
Fans of the animated adaptation will not have to be left wanting to see the
outcome on screen, since the third season has its premiere confirmed for 2027.
