The
adventures of our favorite secret agents in anime's happiest coffee shop are
about to close an important cycle in print. The manga adaptation of Lycoris
Recoil officially announced that it has only two chapters left to reach its
final outcome, preparing the ground to say goodbye to this version of the
story.
The news
was announced through the October edition of Kadokawa's Comic Flapper magazine.
This paper version, which has the story credited to the Spider Lily
collective and art by Yasunori Bizen, began publication in September
2022 and has managed to accumulate nine compilation volumes to date, keeping
fans glued to each panel since its debut.
Throughout
its installments, Bizen's work managed to transfer the dynamism of the screen
to the printed pages with great freshness, allowing the chemistry between the
protagonists to be revived with an impeccable artistic style. Although the
closure of the publication leaves a feeling of nostalgia among readers, Chisato
and Takina's journey in this format reaches its highest point of popularity.
Lycoris
Recoil is a
franchise born as an original anime produced by the animation house A-1
Pictures and directed by Shingo Adachi. The plot introduces us to
the secret organization Lycoris, a group sponsored by the government of Japan
made up of orphaned high school girls trained to prevent crime and terrorism in
the shadows. The story follows Takina Inoue, an expert assassin who, after
disobeying direct orders on a mission to save a companion, is transferred to
the Cafe LycoReco coffee shop as punishment.
There he
meets his new partner, Chisato Nishikigi, the most powerful agent in the
organization but who stands out for her carefree personality and her strict
refusal to take lives. The main voice cast in the animated version includes Chika
Anzai as Chisato Nishikigi and Shion Wakayama as Takina Inoue,
accompanied by Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara, Kosuke Sakaki as
Mika, and Misaki Kuno in the role of Kurumi.
