The anime's
favorite little apothecary is ready to leave the inner palace walls and face
much darker mysteries on the streets. The third season of the
acclaimed animated adaptation of Kusuriya no
Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) officially confirmed its
premiere date for October 2, accompanying the announcement with a fascinating
official trailer, a promotional visual and the addition of a coveted voice to
its cast.
In this new
installment, the story originally written by Natsu Hyuga will
expand its horizons to the outside of the imperial palace and a neighboring
country. It all begins when a strange grasshopper served at breakfast arouses
Maomao's analytical suspicions, while Jinshi carries the weight of his true
royal responsibilities in the face of portents of natural disasters and rumors
about a magical entity. Among the great novelties is the arrival of the
seiyuu Queen Ueda, who will play Bai Niangniang, an enigmatic girl
with white hair and red eyes who promises to shake the stability of the nation
by offering miraculous medicines capable of erasing the pain of the soul.
A
banquet of musical content and film projects
The sound
section will be led by the iconic rock duo Yorushika with the
opening theme "Kumo o Nuke Kaze Shita e Watashi Dake", a song
designed to convey the freedom of a journey through infinite grasslands. In
addition, the production committee confirmed that the season will be divided
into two parts (split-cour), premiering its second half in April 2027. As if
that were not enough, fans of the franchise received news
about the original film of the saga entitled The Apothecary Diaries the
Movie: Bouhi no Hihou, which will arrive in theaters in Japan on December
11 with unpublished characters designed by illustrator Touko Shino.
