The mecha
franchise and the most acclaimed political strategies in Japanese animation
does not intend to stand still on its twentieth anniversary. To warm up the
engines for its two decades of history, the project's official channel
published the first promotional trailer for Code Geass Star Chaser Aspal
(Code Geass Hoshi Oi no Aspal), the new animated series that will
officially hit screens in 2027.
The video
preview focuses on building an atmosphere full of mystery and confirms the
creative team in charge of bringing this production to life. The direction of
the project is in the hands of Kazuya Nomura, a filmmaker with extensive
experience after directing works such as Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie
and the two installments of Moriarty the Patriot. As for the writing and
composition of the scripts, the responsibility falls on Mado Nozaki,
renowned author of the novel Hello World and screenwriter of KADO -
The Right Answer.
The visual
part promises a lot with the participation of the illustrator Rolua adapting
the character designs, while the designs of Agarmatha are by the artist Yoshi.
In addition, the talented Junbun Lin, who worked on the backgrounds and
conceptual effects of recent projects in the Mobile Suit Gundam saga,
assumes the artistic direction of backgrounds and special effects. Although the
preview does not delve too deeply into the details of the plot, it confirms
that this story will remain one of the main pillars within the commemorative
celebrations of the franchise.
This new
installment is part of an ambitious celebration of the project's twenty years,
which includes a manga crossover with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, a new
musical theater play adaptation and special exhibitions that will tour several
cities in Japan during the second half of 2026. The franchise continues to
expand its universe after the release of previous projects such as Code
Geass: Roze of the Recapture and the film Lelouch of the Re; surrection.
Code
Geass is an iconic
original anime saga created by the Sunrise studio in 2006, which revolutionized
the mecha genre with its intriguing mix of mecha battles, political
conspiracies, and high-level tactical battles. The story follows Lelouch vi
Britannia, an exiled prince who gains the power of the Geass, a mystical
ability that allows him to give absolute orders to anyone, triggering a
large-scale rebellion against the sacred empire of Britannia under the identity
of the enigmatic Zero.
