Resolving
diplomatic crises, border disputes and fights with international cartels
already sounds like a pretty heavy job, but doing so by applying wrestling
holds and tasting the local cuisine takes the matter to another level.
Kodansha's Morning magazine officially confirmed that the manga Funso
Deshitara Hatta made (If It's a Conflict, Leave it to Hatta) will
make the leap to the small screen with its own anime adaptation.
The story
puts us in the shoes of Yuri Hatta, a talented geopolitical risk consultant who
travels to the most diverse corners of the planet to get her hands on problems
ranging from territorial disputes and ethnic tensions to organized crime
networks. Far from being a boring bureaucrat who stays behind a desk, Yuri
combines her overflowing intellect, deep cultural knowledge, and rather extreme
tactics that often include moves straight out of the ring.
Throughout
her travels, the protagonist travels from isolated communities laden with local
superstitions to ultra-modern metropolises, unraveling the reality of each
conflict while taking the opportunity to delight in the rarest and most exotic
food she finds on her way. Although for the moment the publisher did not
release further details about the production or the voice cast that will bring
the series to life, they promised to reveal more information very soon.
Written and
illustrated by Motohiro Den, the original manga began serialization in
the pages of Morning magazine and through the D Morning app in
November 2019, maintaining its publication mainly on the digital platform since
then. The Kodansha-produced work has amassed remarkable success with readers,
recently surpassing the 1.2 million copies in circulation as it prepares for
the release of its 20th compilation volume.
