Judging
someone solely by the way they dress is often a blunder, and that's exactly
what Kuroki discovers when he meets his new seatmate. The animated adaptation
of the romantic comedy Jirai nandesu ka? Chihara-san (Are You a
Landmine, Chihara-san?) finally revealed its first video trailer, although
it was accompanied by bittersweet news: its premiere has officially been moved
to January 2027, leaving behind the initial window planned for this
year.
The video
preview confirmed the main actors who will give life to this story of deceptive
appearances. Actress Sayumi Suzushiro will take on the role of Mai
Chihara, while Kazuki Ura will play the troubled Kuroki. They are joined
by a top-notch supporting cast consisting of Maaya Uchida as Chinatsu
Iwakura, Tomokazu Sugita in the role of Hibiya and Daisuke Ono as
Kazami.
The
production of the series is by the production house Synergy SP with the
direction of Yasuaki Fujii. Keiichiro Ochi supervises and writes
the scripts for the project, while Majiro is in charge of adapting the
character design for the small screen and composer Arisa Okehazama
creates the soundtrack under the King Records label.

Based on
the work written and illustrated by Ryon, the original manga began its
digital publication on the GANMA! in June 2021, managing to gain notable
recognition among readers thanks to his peculiar approach to Japanese urban
fashion. The plot follows in the footsteps of Kuroki, a high school student who
at the beginning of the new semester ends up sitting next to Mai Chihara, the
most rumored girl in school due to her jirai-kei aesthetic. Although everyone
warns him that she is an unstable and dangerous girl, Kuroki discovers that
behind her intimidating aura and intense gaze there is only a rather sweet and
slightly weird young woman.
