Given that the government of Germany banned a massive event a few hours ago, the official channels of the event announced the following:
“It is official: unfortunately, gamescom will not take place in Cologne this year. Just like many of you, we are disappointed as, as a team, we have been working for months on a wonderful gamescom 2020, as have many of the exhibitors. However, they assure that gamescom will be held "digitally", at the end of August this year, offering a refund to anyone who has purchased tickets for the event canceled until now.
Could it be that this is an opportunity for this annual gamer event to have a global reach and not only in Europe? It remains to be seen if the big companies in the video game industry want to join, remember that this was not the case with the failed E3 2020.
