The short is the first part of a much larger project celebrating the tenth anniversary of the 2010 animated film released in Japan.
ZENTOY and Yayoi Nagano (from the second closing sequence of the Fruits Basket remake) produced the short. Yu Nagasaki was in charge of directing and writing the scripts in conjunction with Takeshi Imazu, Toshimasa Narita and Satomi Ichiyanagi, the last three in charge of animation.
Chika Hoshiyama credits the original concept of scenarios. Tetsuji Ohno and Ryuuta Suzuki composed the soundtrack. Nobuyuki Abe, Shunpei Takeuchi, and Chinatsu Horiba were in charge of sound direction, and Junichiro Suzuki was in charge of sound effects. Shinsuke Nakamura and Mie Ikeda are credited for planning and distribution.
The Cheburashka character was created by the late Russian writer Eduard Uspensky, and inspired when stop-motion animated films directed by Roman Khachanov, as well as an anime released in 2009 and an animated film in 2010. Makoto Nakamura also worked on the short. animation titled "Cheburashka Doubutsuen and Iku" released in 2014.
