The official Shonen Jump X account  (formerly Twitter) announced that Ire Yonemoto 's Wild Strawberry manga is nearing its final climax . The news came with a special illustration by the author, which teases a tense final showdown.

Almost two years of suspense and lethal flowers

Wild Strawberry debuted on the Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2023 , and has since captured the attention of readers for its dark world, where creatures known as Jinka pose a constant danger to humanity.

The story follows Kingo and Kayano , two young people who grew up together in an orphanage. Although they are not related by blood, their bond is unbreakable. When they finally believe they have found an adoptive family, they discover they have been chosen as food by Jinka. At that moment, Kayano manifests an unusual power: she turns into a Jinka that does not attack humans. From then on, Kingo will do everything possible to protect her secret.

A path of pain and transformation

The plot takes a tragic turn when, after trying to save his sister, Kingo is shot in the head. Upon awakening, he finds himself in a mysterious "pruning" facility , with no sign of Kayano... and with a Jinka blossoming within him. From that moment on, he begins a desperate search to reunite with her and understand his new condition.

Chapter 42 was released on April 17 , and all indications are that the final episodes will lead the protagonists toward a decisive confrontation. Publisher Shueisha released the fifth compiled book volume on February 4 in Japan, while Viz Media and MANGA Plus are publishing the series in English simultaneously with its Japanese release. Viz also released the second digital volume in English on February 25 .

Goodbye is approaching

Although the number of chapters remaining hasn't been revealed, anticipation for the outcome is growing among readers. With its blend of drama, horror, and action, Wild Strawberry has established itself as one of the most intense and emotional offerings in recent years in Shonen Jump's digital catalog.

What fate awaits Kingo and Kayano? Everything points to an ending as tragic as it will be unforgettable.
