As we reported in a previous article , a fairly reliable leak had
already revealed that " Ao Ashi " would have a
second season. Well, now it's official: the anime based on Yugo
Kobayashi's manga will have a second part in 2026.
But the
most striking aspect of the announcement is that there will be a change of
animation studio. While the first season, released in 2022, was produced by
Production IG, this time it will be TMS Entertainment taking the reins of the
project. Will
they be able to maintain the high level of animation and direction that so
satisfied fans in the first season? That's a question many are already asking
on social media.
The announcement was accompanied by a new commemorative visual, showing Ashito Aoi, the protagonist, lacing up his cleats and looking up, ready to enter the field. The manga is currently serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine, and it has already been confirmed that it is nearing its end.
There's no
trailer or further details from the production team yet, but soccer and anime
fans already have reason to get excited. 2026 will be the year of Ao
Ashi's return!
- The manga "Ao Ashi,"
created by Yuu Kobayashi, began serialization in January 2015 in
Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine. Over the years, it has
established itself as one of the benchmarks of modern sports manga, and is
currently in its final stretch, approaching the conclusion of its story
after a long serialization.
- The work was adapted into anime
in 2022, with a first season of 24 episodes animated by the Production IG
studio. This
installment aired during the Spring-2022 season (April to June) and
received very good reviews for its realistic treatment of football and for
the personal development of the protagonist.
- The plot revolves around Ashito
Aoi, a teenager with a playing style as instinctive as it is problematic.
Although he is the main figure of his school team, a mistake during a
decisive match—caused by his impulsiveness—costs the entire group the
elimination of the team. Amidst this frustration, Tatsuya Fukuda, a coach
of a youth team in Tokyo, discovers his talent and invites him to a tryout
in the capital. From then on, Ashito begins a journey of personal
and athletic growth, facing opponents with greater technique and
experience, all while striving for his dream of becoming a professional
soccer player.
