The previous edition of the event was held between December 21 and 22, 2019, however, given the current health situation, the planning team decided not to set a specific date for this edition.
The event is an annual festival sponsored by the Shueisha publishing house, which publishes magazines such as the Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump SQ, V Jump, among others. The exhibition started in 1999 and is held for two days in December with more than 100,000 people attending each year.【JF2021情報】ジャンプフェスタ2021が2020年冬に開催決定!! 日程などくわしい情報は決まり次第発表するぞ! https://t.co/81MK8nSBuv #ジャンフェス #ジャンプフェスタ pic.twitter.com/DPy2Cl4eH0— KAIZOくん@ジャンプフェスタ2020 (@jumpfesta) April 21, 2020
News about manga, anime, feature films, video games and merchandise in general are usually presented for the first time during this festival. Also, manga authors appear at the event to hold conferences and answer questions from fans. The festival mascot is named Kaizo-kun and was designed by Akira Toriyama.
Although the event typically focuses on Shueisha publisher properties, video game developer houses like Bandai Namco Entertainment, Capcom, and Square Enix also tend to attend the event to announce new installments through trailers, gameplay, and public demos.
However, the main attraction of the event are the announcements of new anime adaptations of series published in Shueisha magazines as well as special episodes broadcast only during the event, for example, a special episode of One Piece was presented, in 2004 they were presented episodes of Eyeshield 21 and Bleach, and in 2016 the same thing happened for Black Clover, My Hero Academia and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
