Kyoto Animation Studios announced that they will extend the pause in their productions due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan until the end of May. The studio had announced last April 10 that they would only pause their activities between April 13 and May 13. During this break, the company only updates its website, responds to requests by form, and manages product sales.
The announcement cited the extension of the state of emergency declared until May 31. However, although the government of Japan announced the lifting of the emergency declaration in 39 prefectures of the country, Kyoto, where the study headquarters is located, was not included in the list.
Recently, it was also reported in April that the demolition of the first building for the Kyoto Animation studios was complete. Preparations had begun in November 2019 after the attack that took place in July of the same year.
The legal representative of Kyoto Animation commented on it during an interview, mentioning that a decision will be made about what will be done with the place “after a meeting and considering the views of the bereaved families, as well as those who live there. "
