Kenja no Mago surpasses 5.1 million copies in circulation

The series of light novels written by Tsuyoshi Yoshioka and illustrated by Seiji Kikuchi, Kenja no Mago, are reported to have exceeded 5.1 million copies in circulation.


Yoshioka began publishing the novels on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2015. Subsequently, they began publishing on paper with illustrations by Seiji Kikuchi through the Famitsu Bunko imprint of Kadokawa in July 2015. The publisher published the twelfth volume. last March 30.

The novels inspire a manga adaptation by Shunsuke Ogata, which has been published in Kadokawa's Young Ace Up magazine since March 2016. In addition, the work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Silver Link Studios. , under the direction of Masafumi Tamura and scripts written by Tatsuya Takahashi, released in April 2019.


Synopsis of Kenja no Mago

The original story begins when a powerful and wise wizard, who has saved the world on numerous occasions, meets a baby when he adopts and names him Shin. What the magician does not know is that the baby is actually a man from another world who has reincarnated.

The sage instructs the child, separated from the rest of society, and teaches him all his knowledge about magic. However, it is not until Shin turns 15 and sets out on his own journey that the magician realizes that he forgot to teach him common sense and the customs of this particular world. This is how Shin will head to the capital of the Kingdom of Alsheid to enroll in the prestigious magic academy of the capital.
