In December 2019, Lai Pin-yu politics resonated with networks around the world during her political campaign for a seat in the Legislative Yuan in Taiwan by the Democratic Progressive Party. Back then, Pin-yu was running for a seat in the New Taipei 12th district legislature, with Lee Yong-ping as an opponent, a member of the China Nationalist Party.
