Fans ditch Nana Mizuki merchandise upon learning of their marriage

With Akihabara being the mecca of otaku culture in Japan, the Tokyo neighborhood is not only a place for fans to buy items related to their tastes, but also to sell them. Walking through Akihabara, you can find many stores that sell second-hand items, and some of the busiest stores are K-Books branches.

On July 8, the product-focused division of voice actors and actresses at K-Books posted an update on Twitter reporting that they had received a large influx of used items related to a particular artist: voice actress and singer Nana. Mizuki.

The publication states: “We have received a large quantity of merchandise from Nana Mizuki's concerts. We will establish a special space in the stores for them, so come see them. "
With anime being largely a youth-friendly entertainment medium, it's not unusual for the popularity of a voice actor or actress to drop enormously as fans find a new star to admire. However, Nana Mizuki has been an exception to the rule, having been a renowned voice actress and singer for almost 20 years. So why did so many fans start getting rid of this actress's products?

The K-Books company offered no direct explanation, but there is a possible clue in one of their tweets, which included the message "Congratulations on your marriage."
It turns out that, just a day before the publication of K-Books, Mizuki had revealed through his official blog that he had married (apparently he chose July 7 to give the news, since the word “nana” also means "Seven" in Japanese). Thus, it seems that some fans were rocked by this news realizing that Nana Mizuki was no longer single and, perhaps with her exaggerated dreams now shattered, they decided to quickly ditch their possessions of the actress.

A few days later, on July 12, K-Books reported in another tweet that they had received a pair of Nana Mizuki-themed Reeboks sneakers, a limited edition item and quite rare to find as it is no longer produced.
However, not all fans were ready to sever their emotional ties to the voice actress. Reactions to Nana Mizuki's marriage on her official Twitter account were, in fact, overwhelmingly positive. Finally, it's worth noting that K-Books has remained in business due to its ability to judge what anime fans are willing to buy, and what not, making it clear that they would not have purchased all of this. Second-hand merchandise from Nana Mizuki if they were not sure that it is merchandise that has its sale assured.
