RADWIMPS vocalist criticized for controversial comment

RADWIMPS lead vocalist Youjiro Noda has been the target of strong online criticism for more than a week after he posted a tweet described as "Pro-Eugenesia." On July 16, he wrote: "I have talked about this before, but I think a national project should be done to determine the spouses of people with monstrous genes like Shohei Ohtani, Souta Fujii and Mana Ashida."
Later that day, Noda said the tweet was "a joke" after "having received a lot of super serious responses." Several of the main responses to his publication compared his statements to Nazism.

"There may be other people saying this in the responses, but the Nazis did exactly this," wrote one of the comments. "In Germany, they brought together Aryans who were considered to have 'superior' genes for their blond hair and blue eyes, and a secret project was carried out to create a superior Aryan community," said the same user.
Another answer explained: “You are confusing humans with pure bleeding horses. It is scary how easy the expression "we preserve the superior genes" can become an "we eliminate the inferior genes". It is vital that diversity persists from an evolutionary point of view. "
Reaction to this post still persists after a week of being posted, and many of the top responses date back to July 25 or later. Noda previously drew negative criticism when he criticized the purchase of 105 F-35s from the United States last year.

Finally, the band RADWIMPS performed the songs from the critically acclaimed films Makoto Shinkai, Kimi no Na wa and Tenki no Ko. The band's collaboration with the first film brought them to the top spot in the Oricon sales ranking with his first album.
