One of the questions in particular focused on fanservice: “It seems that this season will have serious developments in its entirety, but are there any plans to insert fanservice scenes such as a beach or swimsuit episode to have a breather? ? ".
Certainly grumpy, Watari replied: “Those who have already read the novels are already aware of this, but there are virtually no fanservice elements that can be appreciated from a visual perspective. However, if the viewer narrows his eyes mentally and looks through the filter of feelings, he will be able to feel the emotions in every part of the performance, from the expressions of the breath, the movements of the hands and the voices. These feelings are undoubtedly the best that can be offered. In one particular episode this season, an impromptu rap battle takes place between Hachiman and Tamanawa. It is completely incomprehensible. For me, that is a definitive respite, but since it is not what you consider as fanservice, I suppose it does not count then. "
During the interview, Watari also recounted his experience attending production meetings and voice recording sessions, noting that despite the five-year gap between the anime's second and third seasons, everyone knew the job and project well. it resumed so easily that there never seemed to be such a pause. In addition, he commented that this season is so rich in details that, instead of choosing a particular scene that he believes represents one of the heroines, he prefers that viewers present their personal list of favorite scenes.
For its part, the series premiered in Japan on July 9 and will have a total of twelve episodes, which will also be released on six Blu-ray / DVD releases. Watari began publishing Oregairu light novels with illustrations by Ponkan8 in 2011. The series ended with the fourteenth volume, published in November 2019.
The official title of this third season is Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru: Kan. Kei Oikawa is in charge of directing the anime at the feel studios, while Keiichirou Ohchi is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts. Yuichi Tanaka is in charge of character design.
Synopsis of Oregairu
The romantic comedy revolves around a rather antisocial high school student named Hachiman Hikigaya, who has a distorted view of life, apart from having no friends, much less a girlfriend. When he sees his classmates cheerfully talking about their teenage lives, he mutters that they are all a bunch of liars. When asked about his dreams for the future, his answer is "don't work." A teacher, however, manages to enroll Hachiman in the volunteer club, to which it turns out that the prettiest girl in the institute, Yukino Yukinoshita, is also enrolled.
