Takahashi began publishing the manga in Shogakukan publisher's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in May 2019. The publisher published the fourth compiled volume on May 18.
Takahashi is one of the most successful mangaka in history, as her works have gained immense popularity both in Japan and abroad, accumulating more than 200 million copies sold. The author has been recognized by the Urusei Yatsura manga in 1980 and by Inuyasha in 2001.
The author also wrote the Ranma 1/2 manga, which inspired an anime adaptation that was released in 1989 and enjoyed notable success in the Western market.
MAO Synopsis
The story begins when Nanoka Kiba, a high school student, undergoes a near death experience. Because of this, she begins to witness bizarre events that in turn were caused by the clash between two worlds, and she meets a mysterious boy named Mao.
