It was reported that the electronics store "TSUKUMO Akihabara Ekimae-ten", opened in January this year, will be closed on August 30. The foregoing was reported through the store's official site and it was highlighted that the reasons are due to "a change in the business structure." However, it should be noted that since the declaration of emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, many businesses and stores in Tokyo and Fukuoka have begun to close since June.
Within these establishments is also the Second Sega-Akihabara Building, located on the southern edge of the area, and which will close its doors on August 30. This building was inaugurated in October 2003 and is an arcade that began to receive players during the rise of otaku culture.

However, as previously reported, on August 1 a statement began to circulate expressing the following message: “Notice of closure. Thank you for your continued patronage. We apologize for announcing that this branch will be closed. Our last day of operations will be next August 30. All the staff here want to express, from the bottom of their hearts, our sincere gratitude for the loving support they have given this establishment for so many years. "
