Light novel writer Masami Morokuchi made his professional debut with the 2005 novel Scorpion, the first in his series titled Densetsu Kari. Later it followed with four more series, being Satsujin Kikanjo, Shingetsu ga Noboru made, Are You Alice? and Teiden Shoujo to Hanemu no Orchestra. His novel Tokuno no Kuni no Amaterasu won an award in the web novel category from Kadokawa publisher in 2016. However, after numerous books published in print and digitally, Morokuchi announced his resignation.
Through his blog on Fanbox, Masami Morokuchi pointed out that he will be taking an indefinite break from his professional activities. In his post, Morikuchi wrote that he was already seriously considering “hanging up the pen” since mid-July for various reasons. Above all, Morokuchi pointed out the lack of comments from his readers, even going so far as to say that he does not believe that someone is waiting for him to continue since he does not receive any request or comment from his followers and Fanbox. Currently, he has no desire to continue writing.
The author noted that the lack of interaction hadn't bothered him until recently, but he did notice that it started about two years ago. He expressed that seeing readers gradually lose interest in his works was far worse than seeing people leave in the first place. Ultimately, Morokuchi concluded that this means that he could no longer write interesting stories. In addition, he noted that sales of his books have been poor and mail orders have been low, to the point that he has excess stocks, a situation that he described as "the worst embarrassment for an author."
"My works seem to have lost the power to resonate with people," he wrote. He went on to explain that even though he optimistically shared new updates with his subscribers on Fanbox, he never received a comment. "What can I say about my work when even monthly subscribers don't even comment on it, other than calling it garbage?" He added that if, at the end of the story, he is only interested in the stories, then he will fantasize about them instead of spending time and effort writing them.
