In this year's ninth edition of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, it was announced that the manga written and illustrated by Yuuki Satou, Tomodachi Game, has entered its latest story arc.
Sato began publishing the manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in December 2013. The manga went on hiatus last December, returned for a chapter in February, and then re-paused. The publisher published the 16th compiled volume on August 7 in Japan.
The play inspired two live-action films, the first titled Tomodachi Game Gekijouban released in June 2017 after a live-action series that aired in April 2017. The second film opened in Japan in September 2017.
Tomodachi Game Synopsis
The story centers on Yuuichi Katagiri, a young man with a perfect student life who has four friends with difficult lives. His peaceful life comes to an end when a total of two million yen, which was a savings from the school group for the annual trip, is lost. The mystery begins to unfold when Yuuichi is involved in a mysterious game for money, and must decide between the value of friendship or that of money.
