Hakusensha publishing house reported the death of author Shou Akechi on August 4. The publisher did not reveal the causes of death.
Akechi stood out in the industry for having written shoujo demographic manga that included topics such as science fiction, the occult, and tales of life. On the other hand, Akechi's works were always published as part of the Hakusensha publishing house's Hana to Yume and Bessatsu Hana to Yume magazines.
Akechi wrote the Shimatsunin series, starting with the Meirou Kenzen Shimatsunin manga, and he also wrote such manga as Sample Kitty, Shinigami no Wakusei, Pandora, and Mainichi no Ceremony.
