New visual revealed for Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppuutan video game

In the most recent issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, a new visual was revealed for Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppuutan, the new video game in the franchise based on the renowned manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. In previous days it had already been revealed that the premiere for this new release is scheduled to go on sale this year, without a specific date announced.

This title can be enjoyed on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S consoles and PC via Steam. Additionally, the game will feature a story mode that will allow fans to relive the story of the first television anime. A battle mode will also be available that will allow users to play with distinctive characters from the series.

It is worth mentioning that a smartphone game based on the franchise and titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Keppuu Kengeki Royale is also in development, although its launch is indefinitely postponed in Japan and a global launch has not been confirmed.

Koyoharu Gotouge began publication of the manga in Shueisha publisher's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2016 and ended in May 2020. The publisher published the twenty-second compiled volume on October 2, and the twenty-third and final on October 2. December 4th. The manga inspired a 26-episode anime adaptation produced by Ufotable Studios, under the direction of Haruo Sotozaki, released in April 2019. Subsequently, a film titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen was released in theaters in Japan on last October 16.

Synopsis of Kimetsu no Yaiba

In the Taisho era in Japan, Tanjirou Kamado is a kind and intelligent boy who lives with his family in the mountains. Tanjirou has become the head of his family after the death of his father, making constant trips to the village at the foot of the mountain to sell firewood and charcoal.

However, his life changes when one day, returning home from a night out, he discovers that his family has been killed by a demon. Tanjirou and his sister Nezuko are the only survivors now, but she has been turned into a demon, although she surprisingly still displays emotions and seems to have a sense of reason. After an encounter with Giyuu Tomioka, a demon hunter; Tanjirou decides to become a demon hunter to hunt down the murderer of his family and find a way to return Nezuko to normal.
