The production of the film Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (Shin Evangelion Gekijouban: ||) reported that the film has sold 5,088,007 tickets for a cumulative gross of 7,799,314,050 yen (about $ 71.7 million), within 42 days of its premiere in Japanese theaters.
It should be noted that since its third week the film exceeded the accumulated collection by Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, which was 5.3 billion yen. This new film is already the highest grossing installment of the entire franchise both within Japan and internationally, despite the fact that it has only been released in one country to date. Finally, the feature film was released in 466 theaters in Japan on March 8, after a series of delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
