On the official website for the Zombieland Saga franchise, all the details for their new spin-off manga series were announced. This release will be titled Zombieland Saga Gaiden: The First Zombie and will begin to be published from May 19 on Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine. The manga will be about the past of a "legendary character." In addition, a promotional image for the manga was published, drawn by Kasumi Fukagawa, character designer of the animated series.
The twelve-episode first season was released in October 2018 in Japan, produced by MAPPA studios, directed by Munehisa Sakai and scripts written by Shigeru Murakoshi. A second season has been on air since April 8 in Japan, while Crunchyroll broadcasts it in the West.
