A video game developer commented on the censorship of l0lis

Lately, outrage against works and characters characterized as “l0lis” has increased dramatically. Unable to separate the concept of “girls drawn with large baby-like eyes, a chubby face, and a petite complexion” from the real world, critics of the art style have accused this style of promoting real-world sexual violence against minors. .

This type of ideology has incited riots on social networks, canceling independent artists and even banning players from competitive tournaments in different video games just for supporting this style. Taking into account the video game industry, the Bounding Into Comics portal interviewed Haru47, a Japanese writer, 3D artist and video game developer, on the subject.

Here are some of the most relevant responses:

What anime and what video game kicked off the censorship of the l0lis?
I think the anime that started it all was Kodomo no Jikan, the controversial anime about an l0li who falls in love with her teacher. I have seen many "anti-l0licon" bring this anime as an example. As for the games, it was the Nekopara series or any ero-l0li visual novel. I think so was the Senran Kagura series, considering that a lot of people celebrated the censorship it received from Sony.

When would you say this sudden change in l0lis censorship started?
I personally felt like it started in the middle of 2016. I know it's probably a longer debacle, but from personal experience, the middle of 2016 was when anime became more mainstream. All these normies only watch the seasonal series without even bothering to investigate the trends of the media they consume.

  • Why, in particular, is there so much prejudice against l0lis? Why don't critics of l0lis seem to understand that the illustrations they are fighting to protect are not real children (and that some l0lis are adults)?
  • Projection. And I wish I made it up, but most of these people are guilty of the same thing they accuse everyone else of. As for the cartoon part, they insist that it's illegal, but the part they left out is that it's actually IRL child porn cartoons that are illegal, while l0lis aren't because they're based on fictional characters. This was the main reason Larry Sanger, the co-founder of Wikipedia, reported the l0licon content on the site to the FBI, only to have the agency call his reporting a waste of time.
  • By now, video game publishers like Sony should have realized that l0licones are a fierce community and loyal to their l0li waifus. Why would publishers ignore that money in favor of an audience that, in all probability, is not going to play their games?
  • This is the funny. People want to erase any scantily clad female character, but it's okay with the sexualization of male characters. One of my favorite examples of this hypocrisy is the YouTuber "Noralites." She made a long video complaining about l0li characters using the term 'minor coded' only for people to find out that she made a video wishing Hanako-kun a sh0ta character and her art page was full of explicit yaoi content of minor characters.
