Although many have those memories, there will be no new memories of it, as the GiGO Akihabara 4 building has closed its doors for the last time, shutting down after eleven years. People lined the small street in front of the station to say goodbye to the arcade on September 25. The staff had a chat with the manager to thank people for coming to the arcades over the past eleven years and regret not being able to see them again.

The GiGO company revealed in August that the closure was due to the end of the fixed-term lease of the building and the non-renewal of the extension contract. This is just the latest closure of an Akihabara arcade, with the iconic Sega Akihabara 2 building closing its doors in early August 2020 and the relocation of the popular Ikebukuro GiGO to a much smaller building across the street. . GiGO Akihabara buildings 1, 3 and 5 remain in the area for the time being.

Additionally, all of SEGA 's arcades are undergoing a name change process as GiGO's parent company, GENDO, has purchased SEGA's stock and become the company's majority shareholder .
