Yoshino Aoyama, the voice of Bocchi, tests positive for COVID-19

 The representation agency 81 Produce issued a press release informing that voice actress Yoshino Aoyama , who currently voices Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou in the popular anime adaptation of Bocchi the Rock! , has tested positive for COVID-19 and has had to suspend her activities.


The statement wrote:

  • We are writing to inform you that Yoshino Aoyama, a member of our company, has been confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19. Yoshino Aoyama felt discomfort in her throat and underwent a PCR test, which came back "positive". The patient is currently recovering at her home and will be treated in accordance with the guidelines of the health authorities.
  • A specialized agency has confirmed that there are no people who fall into the category of "close contacts" with the person in question, so the risk of spread is minimal. We sincerely apologize to all affected parties and fans for the concern and inconvenience caused. As a company we will continue to do everything possible to prevent new infections and their spread, giving the highest priority to the safety of our members, staff and all those affected.



Yoshino Aoyama was born on May 15, 1996 in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, and debuted in the entertainment industry in 2014. In the anime industry, she is recognized for multiple leading roles such as Guri in Renai Boukun, Yoshino Nanase in Wake Up Girls! , Kuroe Mashima in Murenase! Seton Gakuen , and Makoto in Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu! She is recently playing Hitori Gotou in the popular adaptation of Bocchi the Rock! .

Regarding the latter, the production of Bocchi the Rock! did not issue any press release informing about any change in the schedule derived from the suspension of activities of the protagonist.
