On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Hiroyuki , Kanojo mo Kanojo ( Girlfriend, Girlfriend ), a new promotional video for the second season of the project was published. The video confirms that the premiere is scheduled for next October in Japan , and the changes in the production team for this sequel were also revealed.
Hiroyuki began publishing the manga through Kodansha 's Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2020 and ended it in May 2023. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions studios , under the direction by Satoshi Kuwahara and scripts written by Keiichirou Oochi , which aired during the Summer-2021 (July-September) season.
Sinopsis of Kanojo mo Kanojo
After harboring unrequited love for several years, Naoya Mukai finally gets a date with his childhood friend, Saki Saki. However, just as he tries to commit to this relationship, he receives an abrupt confession from Nagisa Minase. At first, Naoya tries to reject her but is soon overwhelmed by his feelings of not wanting to hurt her. Trying to avoid betraying his girlfriend's trust in him, Naoya thinks of a "solution" to make them both happy: dating them both. Saki naturally rejects the idea, but through Naoya and Nagisa's persistence, she ends up agreeing. With this, a three-way romance begins between Naoya, his girlfriend, and his other girlfriend, who already have a relationship that deviates from the social norm to begin with.
