Users of the popular Toranoana sales platform were surprised when the sales ranking for the month of July-2023 showed something quite particular. Before we explain what brings us together today, we have to make it clear that Toranoana is one of the most popular manga and anime merchandise stores in Japan, but because it is the main outlet for many adult products.
However, among the most popular doujinshi of the month (at least in the first six positions) there was only one hentai-type publication, a strange doujinshi that combined the Fate/Grand Order and Dr. STONE universes , and a novel focused on the universe of Precure . The other three positions were what caught the attention of netizens.
There in the first, fourth and fifth positions were romance-themed manga centered on a single couple: Anya Forger and Damian Desmond from the SPY x FAMILY franchise . Certainly a surprise, because in addition to not being hentai-type works, in fact they show both characters in scenarios invented by the authors, where both are more adult.
The first, titled “ Anya Can't Do Plan B Anymore (アーニャはもうプランBがんばれない)” , centers on Anya Forger now knowing that Damian has feelings for her, and feeling guilty about it. Because of this, she is constantly distracted and unable to continue with her “befriend her” plan, so she decides to try another strategy.
The second, titled “ Marry Me ”, focuses on an already established couple between Anya and Damian, specifically their married life. In fact, it goes back to show key moments of their lives such as the marriage proposal and the wedding between the two, as well as a new unpublished story drawn by the author (from this fanfiction, not the original).
The last one, titled “ Must Have a Happy Ending (ハッピーエンドにちがいない) ”, also tells of a future couple life between Anya and Damian, but focuses more on the latter. Damian wants to advance their relationship soon, so he plans a strategy to get closer to Anya.
Certainly these are works for all audiences, but the most interesting thing is the fact that they are all focused on the relationship between Anya Forger and Damian Desmond , and not on Yor Forger and Loid Forger, which seems to have more dedicated hentai stories ( possibly because from the original material they are already adults).
While you wait for the premiere of the second season and the original movie of the SPY x FAMILY franchise , why not take some time to read some of the most popular fan fiction? Those stories that narrate scenarios that are practically impossible or perhaps possible, but for which there is a long time to go.
