On the official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of
the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa
Abe, Sousou
no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End ), it was
announced that the first part of the series will end with the sixteenth
episode, scheduled for December 22 in Japan.
After this broadcast, the series will go into suspension until next January 5, 2024, when the first episode for the second part will be broadcast, which will have a total of twelve episodes (like a regular season). This adds up to the twenty-eight episodes initially confirmed for this production.
The platform Crunchyroll is responsible for
its distribution in the West, including a dubbing into Latin Spanish. On the
other hand, Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe began
publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday from
the publisher Shogakukan in
April 2020 Unfortunately, the work has gone through a series of suspensions
that slow down its progress.
Synopsis of Sousou no Frieren
The Demon King has been defeated, and the victorious
group of heroes has returned to their respective homes after disbanding. The
four—the mage Frieren, the hero Himmel, the priest Heiter, and the warrior
Eisen—remember their decade-long journey when it comes time to say goodbye. But
the passage of time is different for elves, so Frieren witnesses how her
beloved companions slowly die.
Before his death, Heiter manages to impose on Frieren a
young human apprentice named Fern. Driven by the elf's passion for collecting a
wealth of magical spells, the pair embark on a seemingly aimless journey,
revisiting places the heroes of old had visited. Throughout his travels,
Frieren slowly comes to grips with his regret for the missed opportunities to
form deeper bonds with his now-deceased comrades.
