Lynn Okamoto is
a popular manga author that you probably know from works like “ Gokukoku
no Brynhildr (Brynhildr in the Darkness)” and “ Elfen Lied “.
However, his most recent focus has been on extremely erotic works, as
demonstrated with “ Parallel Paradise .”
This latest work has been in serialization for more than seven years, and is so
full of sex that you no longer even realize if the story is progressing or not.
In case you don't know her, the synopsis of the work
writes: « A normal day at school takes a strange turn for Tada Youta
when a strange apparition pushes him out of a third-story window. He wakes up
in a fantasy realm like no other. Not only do dragons and knights
exist, but all the inhabitants of this world are voluptuous girls. Men haven't
been seen in the kingdom for thousands of years, so Youta is about to get very,
very lucky. Whether Youta has died or he has been transported to this
place for mysterious and unknown reasons… in any case, it is his version of his
paradise! ».
Well yes, since the protagonist is the only man in
this other world and since women are extremely sensitive to male touch (they
practically become eager for sex with the simple fact that he touches them),
the story of “Parallel Paradise” is more than singular. And even though
she's currently supposed to be in her final arc, Lynn Okamoto hasn't missed a
single opportunity to show sex in this story.
But why does it sacrifice advancing the
story to show sex scenes every chance it gets? In
fact, she referenced this in a recent Twitter post:
- « I'm
currently drawing an erotic manga, so I think it's the norm that there is
sex at least once per volume. So when I realize I've gone a while without
showing sex, I rush to draw it. It's quite fun to write this way »,
He wrote on Twitter.
- « It
wasn't my editor who told me to include sex at least once per volume of
the manga, but something that I decided myself for my work. If
you are in charge of an erotic story, it is normal that you include erotic
content every week. However, doing this does not advance the
story, so I have given up on the idea of showing sex in each chapter. So,
if you suddenly see a sex scene that you don't know where it came from,
rest assured it's because I realized I hadn't included sex in a while ,"
he added.
And of course, his curious statements did not go
unnoticed:
- " Parallel
Paradise has been officially classified as an erotic manga by
Okamoto-sensei himself ."
- « So
the teacher thinks that sex is necessary from time to time, I think we
agree .»
- " Manga
is a good example of how a manga artist can be more than a little crazy ."
- « The
story is very interesting, but also very funny, so it is a good manga .»
- « I'm
not sure if it's a good thing, but it's a good manga because it's a very
funny story and it makes you laugh .»
- " I'm
not sure if it's a good thing that I'm not a fan of history ."
- « Well,
if you don't have sex, it means death in that world .»
- " It's
the only one of your works where people don't die ."
- " I
would like Okamoto-sensei to resume Nononono at some point in the future ."
