The official Love Live! franchise
website has revealed a promotional video for the first film in the
trilogy, “ Love Live!
Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Final Chapter ,” which will
conclude the anime adaptation of “ Love Live! Nijigasaki High School
Idol Club .” The video confirms that the film is scheduled to premiere
in Japanese theaters on September 6, while the other two films are still
awaiting release dates.
This new project announced in June 2023 will
serve as the conclusion of this sub-franchise after its debut in October 2020. According
to the release, the first film will be set in Okinawa and the promotional video
shows the group preparing for School Idol GPX, an event in which they will
participate.
On the other hand, “ Love Live! Nijigasaki
High School Idol Club ” is a sub-franchise of the “ Love Live! “
multiverse, born from the video game “ Love Live! School Idol Festival
All Stars ” in 2017. Unlike μ's and Aqours, they are a group of
individual school-idols who compete against each other to keep their school
afloat. Precisely for this reason, they do not have a name as a group,
and are simply known as the “Nijigasaki Academy School-Idol Club”.
In addition to its obvious involvement in the music
world, Sunrise’s anime adaptations include two seasons in Fall 2020
(October-December) and Spring 2022 (April-June) ,
totaling twenty-six episodes, as well as the OVA “ Love Live! Nijigasaki
High School Idol Club Next Sky ” in June 2023, and a comedy spin-off
titled “ Nijiyon Animation .”
