In news that has rocked both the cosplay and social media communities, the tragic murder of popular 25-year-old Chinese cosplayer Ai Kirishima (桐島愛) has been confirmed . Local authorities report that Ai was murdered by her boyfriend, a 150-kilogram man, who subsequently dismembered and dumped her body in a mountainous area . This gruesome crime has left her fans and friends, as well as the cosplay community at large, perplexed.

Authorities in China confirmed on June 22 that Ai Kirishima had died and that the suspect had been arrested. The couple reportedly had a contentious relationship marked by frequent disputes, during which Ai reportedly slapped her boyfriend in public. The victim, known on social media as an influential figure from Shanghai, was active in the cosplay community.

An acquaintance in the cosplay community revealed that he had previously had disputes with Ai Kirishima and never imagined that it would end so tragically. He further described Ai's boyfriend as a cheater. Other acquaintances have mentioned that Ai used to exert psychological violence against her partner and that, in times of conflict, she would publicly beat him. Close friends indicated that the relationship did not seem like that of a couple and that it was evident that they would eventually break up.

Ai Kirishima’s boyfriend, known as “Sange (三哥),” had a notable presence in the eSports and anime circles. Unlike Ai’s slender figure, Sange weighed 150 kilograms. Since May 17, the style of posts on Ai’s social media account changed, leading to suspicions that Sange was impersonating her to post.

On the social network Twitter, a friend of Ai posted a statement to clarify the rumors and provide official information:
