Japan celebrates Bunny Day

This August 2, Japanese fans celebrated Bunny Day (バニーの日, Bunny no Hi) , an annual holiday on the Japanese Internet that pays tribute to bunny outfits. This special day is also celebrated on August 21 and occasionally on August 23. Internet users take advantage of these dates to publish cosplay illustrations and photos, exalting the charm of these iconic outfits.

The origin of Bunny Day dates back to August 2008 , when the Pixiv platform announced this celebration for the first time. Other users were invited to join the celebration by posting their own illustrations of girls in bunny suits. The response was enthusiastic and the festival became an annual event from the following year.

Pixiv 's Bunny Fes helped the holiday gain attention both within and outside the illustrating community, attracting amateur artists and cosplay fans across platforms. Starting in 2014, the celebration began to move to Twitter, where the hashtag #バニーの日(#BunnyDay) began to be used. This increased the participation of cosplayers.

On August 2, 2016, the website Dwango published a report on Bunny Day , highlighting the participation of numerous gravure idols, or glamor models, in the festivities and cosplays, especially on Twitter. Since then, August 2 has become the main day of this annual celebration, which has been covered by online news sites.

This year, the celebration was a resounding success, with countless posts of cosplay illustrations and photos on social media , where fans shared their love for bunny outfits, once again showing the passion and creativity of the Japanese otaku community.
