Acclaimed animation studio Kyoto Animation has announced
the “ Kyoto Animation 2025 New Works Announcement ,” a special
event where it will present its new project for 2025. This announcement
will take place on September 21 at 9:00 p.m. (Japan time) in a live broadcast
through its official YouTube channel . The event will be in the format
of a special program, narrated by renowned voice actor Daisuke Ono, who has
worked on important productions of the studio such as “AIR” and “The Melancholy
of Haruhi Suzumiya.”
The announcement has generated great expectations,
especially after Kyoto Animation posted a mysterious trailer on its social
media and YouTube channel on September 13, with the date and time of the event,
but without offering any further details. This enigmatic announcement
has sparked speculation about possible franchises or projects that could be
revealed at the event.
Kyoto Animation, affectionately known as KyoAni, is
one of Japan’s most important and beloved animation studios. Among its
most iconic works are “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu,” “Clannad,” “K-On!”, and
more recently, titles such as “Violet Evergarden” and “Kobayashi-san Chi no
Maid Dragon.” The studio has been applauded not only for the quality
of its animation, but also for its ability to tell deeply emotional stories.
However, in 2019, Kyoto Animation went through one of
the most devastating tragedies in the history of the anime industry when its
main building was burned down in a premeditated attack, resulting in the loss
of 36 precious lives and numerous injuries. Despite the
immense pain and hardship, the studio has shown incredible resilience, resuming
its activities and continuing to produce anime of the highest quality. In the
years since the incident, Kyoto Animation has released successful projects such
as Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2020) and the second season of Kobayashi-san
Chi no Maid Dragon (2021), proving that it remains a mainstay in the industry.
In fact, in recent weeks information has been leaked
about a possible sequel to Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, one of Kyoto
Animation's most recent and successful titles. This
information has been circulating among fans and specialized media, and it is
expected that this new installment will be officially confirmed at the event on
September 21. Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon has established itself as one of
the studio's most beloved franchises, thanks to its mix of humor, endearing
characters, and unique visual style.
