Popular Japanese cosplayer Glico (ぐりこ) has caused a stir
on social media after sharing a series of videos showing off her
impressive cosplay of Asuka Langley, the iconic character from the “ Neon Genesis Evangelion ” franchise .
However, what caught the attention of millions of users was not only the
fidelity of the cosplay, but a curious and unexpected detail: the
rubber-like material of the suit accumulated large amounts of sweat due to the
summer heat and its lack of breathability.
Glico attended an event in Tokyo wearing Asuka's
signature tight red costume made from a material that does not allow for the
absorption of sweat. As a result, after several hours in the sun, sweat
began to accumulate inside the costume until it turned into a considerable
amount of liquid , which was evidenced when the cosplayer took off her
rubber boots and showed how the sweat flowed towards the ground.

In one of the videos, Glico explained what had
happened:
- « Rubber
material doesn't absorb sweat, so this happens, but in the middle of
summer, cosplayers tend to sweat a lot and their outfits absorb sweat.
Don't forget to take breaks and stay hydrated during summer photo shoots! »
The cosplay community praised Glico for her dedication
and patience in wearing a costume made of such non-breathable material in the
middle of summer. This is not the first time the cosplayer has faced
these challenges, as she has previously shared other cosplays made with similar
materials, such as her interpretation of Temari from Naruto, Frieren from
Sousou no Frieren, and Yor Forger from SPY×FAMILY. , all of which
feature costumes that seem especially difficult to wear in the summer heat.
On this occasion, Glico took the opportunity
to raise awareness among other cosplayers about the importance of taking
frequent breaks and staying hydrated during photo shoots on days of extreme
heat. , valuable advice considering the effects of the weather on the
health and well-being of those who practice cosplay.
The unusual buildup of sweat on Glico's suit not only
sparked surprised reactions , but also some humorous and thoughtful
comments about the difficulties of cosplaying in the summer:
- « Is
this what a plug suit looks like in real life? »
- " This
is typical of wetsuits ."
- " Just
looking at it makes me itch, I suffer from atopic dermatitis." ."
- « With
that amount of sweat I would be worried about ruining my makeup. ."
- « I
thought it was me after a day of work in the summer ."
- « With
this heat, it is logical that we sweat so much outdoors. Seeing it this
way, it is easy to understand the importance of hydration ».
- " It's
a good visual example of how much water is lost through sweating. I think
it can be a good reminder of the importance of preventing heat stroke ."
