The popular “ Sword Art Online ”
franchise has given rise to debates and curiosities about its characters,
but one of the topics that has attracted the most attention is the bust
size of Suguha Kirigaya (Leafa) , the adoptive sister of the
protagonist Kirito. According
to a curious episode revealed by Kazuma Miki, editor responsible for several
successful works such as “Sword Art Online” and “Toaru Majutsu no Index”, the
decision regarding Suguha’s bust was more spontaneous than many might imagine .
Miki, who has
overseen over 500 volumes of light novels and achieved cumulative sales of over
60 million copies, shared details about the creation of the characters in a
recent book. At a meeting during the development of the third volume of
“Sword Art Online,” Miki lightly suggested that Suguha’s character should have
a sizable bust. In her words, “ This girl must have a big
bust, don’t you think? ” referring to the idea that greater
femininity would contrast with the strong and energetic personality of Suguha,
who practices kendo and has a determined attitude.
What started as a
comment to relieve tension in a creative meeting became a key part of the
character's design. Suguha went from having no physical reference in
the original web version to being remembered, in part, for her prominent bust,
estimated to be size F. Although this attribute does not completely
define her popularity, it has been a trait that has helped the character stand
out in the memory of fans.
Miki also shared a
curious “explanation” given by Abec , the series’
illustrator, who suggested that Suguha’s bust growth is linked to the
time she spent observing Kirito trapped in the world of Aincrad for two years,
thus showing the “power of being a good sister.”
These kinds of
creative decisions, while sometimes seemingly trivial or the product of jokes,
show how the visual aspects of a character can influence how they are received
by the public. And while Suguha is a multifaceted character, her F Cup
has been a talking point that has undoubtedly made her more memorable to fans
of the franchise.
