The anime “ Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! ” came to an
end on September 28 with its 12th episode, which was completely
original and not based on the source work . This episode focused on a
date between Anna Yanami and Kazuhiko Nukumizu, suggesting that the two
characters might have kissed. This situation generated great confusion
among fans of the series, who began to speculate about the status of the
relationship between the two.

The episode’s denouement, which was titled “ Am
I Really Just a Dumb Sideshow Who Appears in the Last Episode with the Loser
Heroine? ”, maintained the series’ signature romantic comedy
tone. While many believed the date would lead to a formal romance
between Anna and Nukumizu, the truth is that it wasn’t a real date. Nukumizu
had arranged a fake date as part of a project that would help Yanami show her
friends that she had a “boyfriend.” It all started when Yanami realized
that she was seen as “cute,” leading her to make up the boyfriend excuse.
The plan, titled “Fake Date Project,” was devised by
Nukumizu, who proposed that Yanami take photos with him (without showing her
face) to make her friends believe that she really had a boyfriend. However, as
expected, things did not go as planned. Although there were some close moments
between the two, including a scene on the Ferris wheel, the date only
served to make Yanami decide not to publish the photos and prevent her friends
from discovering that her “boyfriend” was, in fact, Nukumizu.

Despite the suggestive moments, fans hoping for a
clearer conclusion about the feelings between Nukumizu and Yanami were left
unsatisfied. While previous episodes hinted that Nukumizu
might have feelings for Yanami, the latter's "bold" nature seems to
have put a damper on that possibility, leaving it up in the air whether their
relationship can evolve beyond friendship.
The ending of “Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!” has
left many wondering if there will be a second season exploring the fate of
these characters, as this final episode was filler that failed to resolve any
major plotlines. With the original episode concluding
ambiguously, the chances of a sequel seem unlikely, leading to a mix of
frustration and speculation among fans of the series.
