This Monday, Kadokawa publishing house  surprised manga fans by announcing the production of an anime adaptation of 29-Sai Dokushin Chūken Bōkensha no Nichijō (The Daily Life of a 29-Year-Old Adventurer), a work by mangaka Ippei Nara . To celebrate the news, a teaser trailer has been shared along with a special illustration made by the author himself.

A story of adventure, loneliness, and an unexpected connection

The story revolves around Shinonome Hajime , a 29-year-old seasoned adventurer who lives a solitary life, exploring dungeons and battling creatures. His life takes an unexpected turn when he rescues a girl named Rirui from being eaten by a slime monster. Upon discovering that she has been abandoned by her parents and has nowhere else to go, Hajime decides to take her in, never imagining that the girl is hiding a mysterious secret.

Cast and crew confirmed

The main cast will feature two renowned voices:

  • Makoto Furukawa will play the protagonist Shinonome Hajime .
  • Sayumi Suzushiro will play Rirui .

Production will be handled by the animation studio HORNETS , under the direction of Riki Fukushima (known for Skate-Leading Stars and Duel Masters LOST ). The scripts will also be supervised by Fukushima. The character designs will be in the hands of Yoshihiro Nagamori , responsible for titles such as Beyblade X and Bakugan Battle Brawlers .

A work that has grown in silence

The manga launched in January 2016 in Kodansha 's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine , and is also available on the digital platform Magazine Pocket . With a steady reader base, the work already has 18 volumes published as of December 2024, and volume 19 will go on sale this Friday, May 3, 2025 .

With its blend of adventure, tenderness, and fantasy , this adaptation promises to captivate both new viewers and those who have followed the story since its beginnings in the manga. An official release date has yet to be revealed, but fans are already eagerly awaiting what is shaping up to be one of next year's most emotional offerings.
