This
Friday, May 3, it was confirmed that the manga Show-ha Shoten! ,
created by Akinari Asakura and renowned illustrator Takeshi
Obata (*Death Note*, *Bakuman.*), will come to an end with the
publication of its 11th volume . The final volume will be
released in Japan on September 4, 2025 , bringing to a close a
story that combined dreams, youth, and a whole lot of humor.
A comedy
with a taste of triumph
The
series, which debuted in Shueisha 's Jump SQ magazine in October 2021,
follows Higashikata and Shijima , two
students who decide to form a comedy duo with the ambitious goal of conquering
Japan's biggest stages. United by their passion for comedy, the duo faces both
personal and professional challenges on a path filled with learning, failures,
and emotional moments.
Takeshi
Obata's legacy continues
This
project marked Takeshi Obata 's return after completing Platinum End , a
project he created with Tsugumi Ohba (with whom he also
created *Death Note* and *Bakuman*). While *Show-ha Shoten!* took a lighter,
more human approach, it maintained the artist's signature narrative depth and
visual style.
Viz
Media is handling
the English-language publication, having released the seventh volume on March
18. For now, the series is expected to gain even more recognition upon
its conclusion, as has been the case with other works from the creative duo.
Thus, Show-ha
Shoten! closes with a clear message: pursuing your dreams, even in the
world of comedy, requires courage, perseverance, and a good dose of laughter.
