Shueisha has
announced that Forbidden Shibukawa 's Snack Basue manga will
conclude its series in the next issue of Weekly Young Jump magazine
, which will be published on May 29 (local time in Japan).
This marks the 26th issue of the weekly magazine.
An
absurd comedy that won over readers
The story
revolves around a small bar located in Sapporo 's Kita
24 neighborhood , just five stations north of the famous Susukino shopping
district . The eccentric owner, her young assistant, unusual regular customers,
and occasional visitors gather in this peculiar establishment to share
ridiculous yet hilarious stories about their lives.
Since its
debut in 2017 , the series has been characterized by its irreverent
humor , unexpected situations and extravagant characters, becoming a
unique proposal within the Young Jump catalog .
A recent
animated adaptation
In
January 2024 , Snack Basue made its debut on
the big screen with an anime adaptation that streamed on Crunchyroll simultaneously
with its Japanese release. The animated series allowed a wider audience to
discover the charm of this particular corner of Hokkaido's nightlife.
Seven
years of unfiltered comedy
With more
than 17 compiled volumes published—the latest released on May
19th — Snack Basue will culminate its run as one of
the most unique comedies of the last decade in seinen manga. Although its pages
are about to close, the legacy of this unforgettable bar will remain etched in
the memories of its readers.
