The
official X account for the anime The Apothecary Diaries ( Kusuriya
no Hitorigoto ) announced that renowned voice actress Rica
Fukami will be joining the cast as Shenmei , a woman
with a cold nature and a disturbing aura . Her debut is
scheduled for episode 43 , which will air in Japan this Friday,
May 24 at 1:00 PM (UTC+2) .
A new
stage in the second season
The anime's
second season, currently in its second cour , premiered
on April 4 . It continues to air on Nippon TV 's FRIDAY
ANIME NIGHT block , and has an English dub and simulcast
on Crunchyroll .

Green Apple performs the new opening theme, “ Kusuhiki ”

theme with “ Hitorigoto ” (Monologue).
A story

The story
follows Maomao , a young woman raised by an apothecary who,
after being sold to the Inner Palace , begins to excel thanks
to her wit and medical knowledge . Her life
takes a turn when the eunuch Jinshi discovers her talent and
makes her the personal taster of the Emperor's favorite consort.
A
franchise in constant expansion
The light
novel series, written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko
Shino , began online publication in 2011. It has since inspired both
a manga adaptation and a highly successful anime
. The manga is being published in English by Square Enix Manga & Books ,
as are the novels.
With the
recent announcement of Rica Fukami and the plot teaser,
upcoming episodes promise more mystery and excitement in this fascinating world
of medicine, betrayal, and imperial secrets.
