Renowned
mangaka Kenji Tsurubuchi, author of Touge Oni, has released his latest work,
titled Meaheim, a dark fantasy story steeped in mystery and symbolism. The
prologue and first two chapters are available starting Thursday, May 23, 2025,
in Kodansha's Morning Two digital magazine.
A
Journey to the Heart of the Underworld
The story
follows Ren, a young scholar who delves into an unholy underworld in the hopes
of finding a miracle cure for his gravely ill younger brother. This world is
filled with supernatural phenomena: gold flows like water and rotten fruit
grows back on trees. Ren will not be alone on his journey; he is accompanied by
Tobias, an enigmatic guide who may know more than he lets on.
A
Creative Duo with Great Potential
While
Tsurubuchi wrote the script, the art is by illustrator Konata, whose dark and
detailed aesthetic brings a disturbing yet fascinating tone to this new
narrative universe.
A Career
Marked by the Supernatural
Tsurubuchi
debuted in 2011 with the manga "Metamphetamine" in Houbunsha's Manga
Time Kirara Forward magazine. Kadokawa published the complete edition in April
2023. Yen Press distributed the work in English and released the compiled
volume on March 11, 2024.
Meanwhile,
her series "Touge Oni: Primordial Gods in Ancient Times" has gained
significant popularity within the genre. Yen Press also publishes this story in
English and plans to release the sixth compiled volume on July 15, 2025.
