An unexpected return to the body of a final boss

The story of A Wild Last Boss Appeared! takes us to the year 2800, where Lufas Maphaahl, the Black-winged Tyrant and legendary conqueror, mysteriously reappears. A man wakes up trapped in the body of his Exgate Online MMO character, 200 years after she was defeated in a player-created event.

But what seemed like a simple game becomes reality, and now, with his legacy marked by fear, he must travel this world in search of answers, allies and the monsters that his "death" unleashed.

The series combines action, drama, and classic elements of the isekai genre with a powerful and complex protagonist. The official premiere is scheduled for October 2025.

A creative team with great experience

The direction is in charge of Yūya Horiuchi (Nijiyon Animation), and the production is by the Wao World studio, together with WOWMAX. Renowned screenwriter Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Girls' Last Tour) oversees the scripts, while Maiko Ebisawa (Wonder Egg PrioritySword Art Online: Alicization) is in charge of character design for animation.

Takashi Kobayashi (Time Travel Girl) and Shōta Ueno (Seirei Gensouki) also star as supporting character designers.

The confirmed cast includes Ami Koshimizu as Lufas Maphaahl and Yuri Usui as Dina, who spearhead this epic story of redemption and power.

A work born from the web world

The original novel was written by Firehead with illustrations by YahaKo and was first published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform in 2015. Its end came in 2017, and the publisher Earth Star Entertainment published a total of nine volumes in physical format until April 2019.

The manga adaptation, illustrated by Tsubasa Hazuki, began in 2017 and already has 10 compilation volumes, the last of which was published on February 12. Both the novel and manga are available in English thanks to J-Novel Club.
