On
Thursday, Kadokawa officially confirmed that the anime
adaptation of the light novels Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in
Russian (Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go by Dereru Tonari no Alya-san)
will have a second season that will premiere sometime in 2026.
Along with the announcement, a visual teaser was released
and changes to the production team were revealed.
A new
creative team takes the helm
Hiroshi
Haraguchi, who
directed episode 4 of the first season, will take over the general direction of
this new installment, replacing Ryota Itoh. Studio Dōga
Kōbō will once again be in charge of animation. As for the
script, Yuka Yamada —writer of episode 6— will take the reins
of the composition of the series. Yūhei Murota will continue
to be in charge of character design.
This second
season will pick up the events starting with the fourth volume of
the light novel, continuing the relationship between the reserved and
elegant Alisa "Alya" Mikhailovna Kujō and the
laid-back Masachika Kuze, who share a desk and romantic
misunderstandings full of tension and tenderness.

What is
this adorable story about?
The story
follows Alya, the "lonely princess" of the Seiren Private
Academy: a student of Russian roots, silver hair and impeccable manners who is
usually cold. However, his seatmate, the carefree Masachika, soon gains his
attention. Although Alya maintains her serious façade, she often lets loose
affectionate comments in Russian believing that no one understands them... but
he does not know that Masachika listens to them all in secret.
The light
novel is written by Sunsunsun and illustrated by Momoco,
and is published under Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko imprint.
The manga adaptation, by Saho Tenamachi, began in
October 2022 on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app. Both the novel
and the manga are distributed in English by Yen Press and K
MANGA.
With its
mix of romance, humor, and Russian phrases, Alya-san has
established itself as one of the most charming romantic comedies of recent
years. His return promises to continue melting hearts in 2026.
