The anime
adaptation of Ascendance of a Bookworm, the popular isekai fantasy
light novel series, has revealed a new teaser trailer and promotional
illustration confirming that its new season will premiere in spring
2026 in Japan. The series will be animated by the renowned WIT
Studio.
In the new
promotional image, Myne (Main) can be seen praying at the top
of a temple staircase, surrounded by bright magical energy and flanked by
statues of gods or heroes. This visual anticipates moments of great emotional
and spiritual charge for the protagonist.
A well-renovated production team
The
direction of this new installment is in the hands of Mitsuru Hongo,
while the composition of the series is in charge of Mariko Kunisawa.
Character design will be handled by Yoshiaki Yanagida, Toshihisa
Kaiya and Haruka Matsunae. The music, on the other hand,
will be composed again by Michiru.
A
publishing phenomenon that continues to grow
The story
of Ascendance of a Bookworm began on the Shousetsuka
ni Narou website between 2013 and 2017. TO Books subsequently
published the complete series between 2015 and 2023, reaching a total of 33
volumes. The work was written by Miya Kazuki and
illustrated by You Shiina. In English, the publisher J-Novel
Club distributes the series.
What is
Ascendance of a Bookworm about?
Crunchyroll,
which is currently streaming the previous three seasons of the anime, describes
the story like this: Passionate about books, Motosu Urano, a
college student, dies in a tragic accident just as she was about to fulfill her
dream of becoming a librarian. When she awakens, she finds herself reincarnated
as Main, the daughter of a poor soldier in the city of Ehrenfest,
where books are a luxury reserved only for nobles. But that won't stop her:
"If there are no books, I'll create them myself."
A story
that does not stop evolving
With three
seasons already aired and an ever-growing international community, Ascendance
of a Bookworm has become one of the most beloved isekai adaptations of
recent years. Its fourth season, scheduled for April 2026,
promises to delve even deeper into the magical, social, and personal challenges
Main faces on his way to a world where books can be accessible to everyone.
