The
official website of the anime Cultural Exchange With a Game Centre Girl,
an adaptation of the manga Game Center Shо̄jo to Ibunka Kо̄ryū by Hirokazu Yasuhara, has
released a promotional video that anticipates the series'
closing theme song.
The ending
theme is titled "Amusing Flavor" and is performed by
the character Lily Baker, voiced by popular seiyuu and singer Sally
Amaki. This brief preview shows the adorable and relaxed tone that will
accompany the end credits of the anime.
Premiere
date and broadcast channels
The series
will make its television debut in Japan on Saturday, July 6 at 4:30
p.m. (Spanish time) on the AT-X channel, and then
will air that same night on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS
Asahi.
A short
commercial has also been released promoting the premiere, in which you
can see part of the cast and the retro atmosphere of Japanese arcades, the main
setting of this cross-cultural romantic comedy.
The anime
is directed by Toshihiro Kikuchi (Bungo Stray Dogs Wan!,
Pseudo Harem) at the Nomad studio. The script is in
the hands of Yasunori Yamada, while Rikiya Okano is
in charge of character design.
In the
technical section, names such as Isamu Nishiyama in art
direction, Kenta Masuda in setting, Yukiko Shigemitsu in
color design, and Mutsumi Takemiya in editing stand out. The
sound direction is in the hands of Yasunori Ebina, with special
effects by Kiyotaka Kawada, and Takurō Iga as
composer of the soundtrack.
A story
between video games, friendship and cultural differences
The plot
revolves around Renji Kusakabe, a young man who works part-time at
a video game center. There he meets Lily, a British girl who,
fascinated by the Japanese retro atmosphere, begins a friendship with Renji
through an exchange of diaries... although that connection could end up being
something more.
The
original manga was created by Hirokazu Yasuhara in 2019 via
the social network X/Twitter, and later began its official serialization on
Kadokawa's Dra Dra Sharp# site in 2020. Volume 10 of
the manga will be published on July 9 in Japan.
In 2021,
the manga received an animated promotional video for its
second volume, with Nao Tōyama voicing Lily on that occasion.
Now, with the premiere of the anime just a few days away, everything points to
this story of cross-cultural romance and video games being one of the most
charming surprises of the season.
