The Kaiju
No. 8 anime, based on the sci-fi action manga shonen, has today
released an official image of the character Gen Narumi, captain of
the First Division of the Kaiju Defense Force. This revelation coincides with
the start of the second season, which began airing in Japan on the
same day and is also available in simulcast on Crunchyroll as
part of its summer 2025 programming.

details and character description
In this
illustration, Gen Narumi is shown sitting on his rifle, in the middle of the
smoking ruins of an urban block. With a relaxed posture, resting his cheek on
his left hand, he shows an almost peaceful expression. Narumi is a slim man
with two-colored, pink, and black hair and crimson eyes. He wears the official
tactical armor of the Kaiju Defense Force.

and team behind the anime
Naoya
Matsumoto's original
manga is published in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital
magazine, and the English version is curated by VIZ Media. The
anime is directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya at the
Production I.G. studio. The series is composed by Ichiro Okouchi,
while the character design and lead animation director is Tetsuya
Nishio. The kaijus are designed by Mahiro Maeda, with art
direction by Shinji Kimura and music by Yuta Bandoh.

Synopsis of Kaiju No. 8 Anime
According
to Crunchyroll, the story follows Kafka Hibino, a
32-year-old man who dreams of joining the Defense Force to fulfill a promise
made to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. During his job cleaning
up the remains of kaijus, he meets a new colleague, Reno Ichikawa,
whose determination inspires Kafka to pass the entrance exam. When a small
kaiju is introduced inside Kafka, he gains superhuman strength and abilities to
fight the kaijus. Now he must earn the trust of his comrades, defeat
increasingly powerful enemies, and protect humanity.
